Our Commitment To The Environment
At Exchange-A-Blade we are committed to minimizing our impact on
the environment. Since its inception over 30 years ago the very
core of our business is to reduce, re-use and recycle. Over the
past 5 years alone, our program has kept over 1 million used saw
blades out of our landfills.
- We have refined the concept of “Buy It, Use It, Exchange
It” where the end user of our products is given an incentive
for returning used items. When these items are no longer useable
they are sent to be recycled into other products. For instance, old
power tool accessories and metal displays are shredded and
remanufactured into construction steel. We monitor this process to
ensure our products are not going into landfills.
- We have a program where we accept other manufacturers’
metal power tools accessories for recycling through collection
boxes in participating retailers.
- We ensure that the most environmentally friendly elements
possible are used in the manufacture of our products. We do not
chromium plate our blades for instance, since this is a potentially
harmful substance both in the manufacturing and recycling
process.
- Our policy of minimal product packaging reduces the amount of
waste material generated by Exchange-A-Blade products. Where
possible we try to ensure that any packaging we use has post
consumer content.
- All our employees are encouraged to recycle and re-use all
paper products, packaging materials manufacturing waste etc. We are
continually searching for more environmentally friendly ways to
conduct our business and minimize our impact on the
environment.
- We are members of the Recycling Council of British
Columbia.
This year we introduced the Exchange-A-Blade Eco-Centre, to help
our retail dealers and their customers identify our environmentally
sustainable products by combining them in one location in their
stores. This program also gives a permanent home to our Recycle
Depot, where customers can drop off any metal power tool
accessories and be assured that they will be collected, scrapped
and recycled into usable steel products, not end up in a
landfill.
Throughout the coming year we will continue to introduce more
new products to our Exchange program and provide our customers with
a financial incentive to return used power tool accessories to
Exchange-A-Blade dealers.
