What does it take to produce power tool accessories?
Let’s face it, the production of power tool accessories requires vast amounts of steel. And the production of steel uses many of our planet’s diminishing natural resources; it requires the following resources to produce one ton of steel:
- 1.5 tons of iron ore
- 0.5 tons of coal
- Thousands of gallons of water
Not to mention manpower, technology, giant manufacturing facilities, tons of heavy duty equipment, and a sophisticated and costly transportation infrastructure to ship finished products around the globe. Additionally, the entire process of producing steel results in billions of tons of solid waste (1.28 tons for every ton of steel producted), water pollutants, and unclean air emissions.

How EAB mitigates damage to the environment
Because of our green exchange system, each year EAB saves the following:
- 94.5 tons of iron ore
- 31.5 tons of coal
- 80.6 tons of solid waste
- 40% water
- 75% energy
- 86% air emissions
- 76% water pollutants
Keeping used steel out of our landfills
Every year for 40 years, EAB has been actively collecting used power tool accessories as part of its blade exchange system. On average, we keep 60 tons of steel out of our landfills every year.
